Services and Activities

The Centre in partnership with statutory, voluntary and community organisations offers in excess of 60 different services and activities. 

All services are free unless a cost is stated.

After Adoption

Registered charity that offers independent support for anyone involved with adoption. Appointments by arrangement, freephone 0800 0568 578.

Alcohol Service

Sefton Alcohol Service offers advice and support for anyone with alcohol problems, partners or families. To book one to one counselling call 01704 542 332. Drop in group support at the May Logan Centre every Wednesday 1.00pm - 3.00pm.

Alder Hey - Opthalmology

Children's opthalmology service, by GP referral and appointment only.

Alder Hey Audiology

Alder Hey children's audiology, by GP referral only.

Alder Hey Community Paediatrics

For children with neuro-developmental problems. GP referral and appointment only.

Alder Hey General Paediatrics

Alder Hey outpatient clinic. GP Referral and appointment only.

All Babes

Teenage pregnancy / parents informal support and advice group with creche. Mondays 1.00 - 3.00pm. No need to book just drop in.   

Ante-Natal Drop In

Midwifery led service providing relaxation, information and support. Drop in Mondays 1.30pm - 3.00pm

Ante-Natal Parent Education Classes

Classes for pregnant women and their partners. Tuesday evenings 6.30pm - 8.30pm
Places must be booked in advance at Centre or with your midwife.

Ante-Natal Service

Midwifery care provided by Aintree Hospital Midwives for low risk pregnant women. 
By appointment only.

Ante-Natal Yoga

Yoga class for pregnant women, runs every Monday 4.00 - 5.00pm. No need to book just turn up.

Anxiety Management

Service for anyone living in Sefton experiencing symptoms of anxiety / depression and would like to learn how to manage it effectively. By health professional referral and appointment only.  

Apple Tree Cafe

Community cafe offering a wide range of hot and cold food and drinks. Open Mon 9.30am - 2.00pm, Tues - Fri 9.30am - 3.00pm.

Audiology

Hearing aid audiology service run by Aintree Hospital. Appointments by GP referral only.

Babes r us

Drop in play group for parents / carers with babies aged up to 12mths. Runs Friday 1.00pm - 3.00pm.
Term time only.  

Baby Massage

For babies aged 8 weeks until crawling (approx 7 - 8 mths). Sessions promote loving contact and provide relaxation, relief of colic and constipation. Fridays 10.30 - 11.30am. Self referral though places must be booked in advance at the centre.

Ball Pool

Ball pool for children aged 18mths to 6 years. No more than 12 children allowed in the ball pool at one time. Must be accompanied by parent / carer. Open during cafe opening hours.

Beating the Blues

Cognitive behavioural therapy run by Turning Point, 1 session for 8 weeks for people experiencing depression or anxiety who are in receipt of incapacity benefit. Referral from the job centre.

Brief Intervention

Service for children aged 0 - 16 years and their families. See children who are experiencing a range of emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties. Service by appointment and referral from health professional only

Chair Exercises

Gentle chair exercise group for the over 55s run by the Feelgood Factory every Wed 1.30pm - 3.30pm. Places must be booked in advance, to book contact Marie Rice on 0151 291 8010.  

Child Development Assessments

Actively involves parents in assessing their children's development carried out in May Logan's creche. Fridays 9.30am - 11.30am. By appointment only arranged via health visitor.

Community Intermediate Care Team

Group that provides social interaction, support and self management skills for those who have suffered chronic illness or injury. Runs Friday 1.30 -  4.30pm, to access contact Angela Fox at Aintree Hospital tel 529 8080.  

Counselling - Sefton PCT

Range of therapeutic mental health interventions delivered through individual and group work. GP referral only.

Creative Alternatives

Arts on prescription service for people with mild to moderate anxiety or depression. Self or health professional referral.

Creche

OFSTED registered creche that provides up to 3 hour care for children aged 0 - 5 years of parents / carers who are accessing a service at the May Logan Centre.  Creche places must be booked in advance.

Diabetes and You

Education and information sessions for patients and their families living in South Sefton with type 2 diabetes. Attendance via health professional referral.   

Diabetes Support Group

South Sefton support group for anyone who has diabetes, their partners or families. Meets every second Thursday of the month 7.15pm - 8.45pm. New members welcome.  

Dieticians - (Sefton Community Dieticians)

Advice and support for people whose excess weight is a risk to their health. Health professional referral only.

Infant Feeding

Drop in clinic run by midwives and health visitors to help support new mothers with breast and bottle feeding. Monday 12.00pm - 3.00pm

Infant Weaning

Course for parents / carers to help develop their skills to wean and feed their baby. Self refer on to the course by calling May Logan reception 0151 922 8588.

Information Point

Information desk in the May Logan Centre, offers free confidential information on health and well being issues and links to local services and resources.  

IT Drop In

Drop in group for anyone who wants to use a computer or get some hints and tips on basic computer use. Runs every Tuesday 9.30am  - 12.00pm

IT Suite

IT suite with 11 computers that can be hired free of charge to deliver community courses and training sessions. To book contact May Logan reception on 0151 922 8588

Parent Support - Youth Offending Team

Parent Support Project

Parenting Courses

Peri Natal Depression Service

Advice and support for new and expectant mums experiencing depression, anxiety or stress. Available at May Logan Centre alternative Tuesday afternoons and every Friday morning. Play and Learn Sessions

Weekly play group every Monday 9.30am - 11.30am for children aged 2 - 5 years and their parents / carers. Term time only. No need to book just turn up.

Prostate Cancer Support Group

Group for patients and family members affected by prostate cancer. Runs 1st Thursday of every month 2.00pm - 4.00pm. Referral by Health Professional only.

Sefton Adult and Community Learning

Provide a range of courses including English and Maths for adults living in Sefton. For more info contact 0151 285 5049. 

Sefton Carers

Support, information and aromatherapy for carers every Thursday 9.00am - 12pm. Self referral, appointments must be booked in advance, for more info contact 288 6060.

Sefton Families and Schools Together

A play group for 0 - 4 year olds to help parents support their children to develop language, literacy and numeracy through play. Term time only, every Thursday 9.30am - 10.45am. Places must be booked in advance, to book call 0151 933 6021. 

Sefton Psychosexual Advisory Service

For Sefton residents requiring psychosexual support. By appointment and GP or Family Planning referral only.    

Sign Health Counselling Service

Counselling service for profoundly deaf, sign language / lip reading users and hearing family members. Self referral, for more information contact Hazel Flynn 01925 625 520.

Spanish

Spanish courses beginners to intermediate. £3.00 per session. For more information contact May Logan Centre Reception on  922 8588.

Speech and Language Team (SPOT)

Provides assessment and therapy for children aged 0 - 19 years including speech and language, physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Self refer to speech and language call 521 4000. Health professional referral for physiotherapy and occupational therapy.

Speech Language Therapy Paediatric Service

Assessment, treatment or advice for children with speech and language difficulties. Self referral, for more information contact 521 4000. 

Stop Smoking Service

Sefton stop smoking SUPPORT Service led by qualified nurses to support and provide treatments to anyone motivated to quit. Self referral by contacting SUPPORT on 0300 100 1000 or call Roy Castle Fag ends on free phone 0800 195 2131.
