Parents & Children Activities & Support
We run a number of activities funded by Sefton Surestart Childrens Centre's programme to support parents /carers and children. These include:
Creche:
Free OFSTED registered creche for children aged 0 - 5 years. Up to 3 hours creche whilst parents / carers access other services in the centre.
Ball Pool:
Free Ball pool for children aged 18mths to 6 years. No more than 12 children allowed in the ball pool at one time. Must be accompanied by parent / carer. Open during cafe opening hours.
Toddler Groups:
The nursery nurse team run two play groups for parents and young children. Every Monday 9.30am - 11.30am for children aged 2 - 5 years and their parents / carers, every Friday 9.30am - 11.30am for children aged 1 - 2 years and their parents / carers and every Friday 1.00pm - 3.00pm for babies 0 - 12mths and their parents / carers.
Groups run term time only and there is no charge except a voluntary contribution of 50pence for snack provided for all the children.
Road Safety Sessions:
One off sessions for children aged 2 - 5 years teaching them about road safety through games, stories and activities.
Healthy Eating:
Our Nursery Nurse team deliver healthy food sessions for groups of children (and their parents / carers where appropriate). This can include preparing healthy snacks, fruit smoothies and learning about 5 a day and fats using games, stories and activities.
Parenting Courses:
Our Nursery Nurses and Information Officer deliver Shareplus Parenting Courses and one off workshops. This is a discussion based course, content led by the needs of the group, it can cover issues such as discipline, behaviour, keeping safe, learning through play, food and nutrition and stress management.
Toy Library:
We offer a toy library for children aged 0 -5 years to develop their skills and have enjoyment through play.
Toys include; books, games, puzzles, imaginative play, story sacks, large play and construction. Toys can be loaned at a rate of 50 pence per week per loaned item.
