This is a new project for 2008 offering support to new and expectant mums and their families around healthy eating, physical activity and well being under the title ‘healthy beginnings’. The programme includes activities such as ante-natal swimming, yoga, bike rides, infant weaning, family cookery and stress busters sessions.
The project is funded by the Big Lottery Fund as part of a North West £7 million well being programme supporting 27 Healthy Living Initiatives across the region, between 2007 and 2012.
The successful regional bid was led by Stockport Council on behalf of local authorities throughout the North West. The programme is being managed by Stockport's Resource Consultancy team with the North West Network of Healthy Living.
